Summer Camping and Fishing
Chuck Davies Guide Service has been in business 31 years.
Our summer activities are conducted in the Colorado Rockies about 70 miles from Grand Junction in the Gunnison, Grand Mesa and White River National Forests. Our fishing and camping trips run from mid July through August and this time of the year the mountains are truly beautiful and the fishing is great.
We offer sightseeing on horseback or four wheel drive vehicles, hiking and fishing in streams, beaver ponds, rock hunting or just plain relaxing in the fresh mountain air. Be sure to bring your camera. We can fit a summer trip for just you, or for the whole family, complete with guides or do it on your own. Fishing license required for those who wish to fish.
We have no fancy lodge, but our camps are comfortable and tents are heated by wood stoves. Meals are served family style and you will truly enjoy this. You will need to bring a sleeping bag, warm and light clothing as the weather is unpredictable. It is also a good idea for rain gear as we do experience mountain showers from time to time. If you would be interested we can also plan trail rides and pack trips where you would be sleeping under the stars. These trips would of course be guided, and include a cowboy cookout.

Working along with a Guide

Our trip offers to the person coming the opportunity to learn the skills of Guiding and Outfitting by working along with a trained guide. This trip is sometimes long and hard, but a memorable one. Long days and short nights, but we do find time to do some fishing and relaxing and just plain enjoying the high country in the summer time.
We take between 4 and 6 guests beginning August 1 and again Sept. 1, for 30 days . At the end of this period, we will discuss the extended time which will continue on to November 10th. We offer the following: back country survival, camp cooking, horseshoeing, horse and mule handling and packing, placement of hunting camps, forest rules, health and safety permit system, elk bugling, gun care, trophy care and maintenance of 4 wheel drive vehicles.
You may reach Grand Junction by air, rail, bus or car. Service is daily from both east and west, and we can arrange to meet you if desired.
We require 50% deposit (not refundable) with balance payable on arrival by cash or travelers check. When booking, please tell us your age and physical condition (including any health impairments,) with this information we can make special arrangements, if necessary to make your trip a safe and pleasant one.
